Purabi Dairy, an Assam-based enterprise operated by the West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union (WAMUL), has partnered with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to expand its production capacity to 3 lakh litres per day (LLPD).
The collaboration was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' Business Summit. As part of a ₹100-crore expansion project, the Dairy’s Panjabari plant will see its capacity double from 1.5 LLPD to 3 LLPD, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality dairy products to meet growing consumer demand.
Additionally, the production capacity for fermented milk products will increase from 20 tonnes per day (TPD) to 50 TPD, and a new ice cream plant with a 20 TLPD capacity will be established. This initiative aims to strengthen the dairy supply chain while enhancing returns for farmers through value-added products.
In a separate development, WAMUL signed an agreement with the Assam government last year to operate a 5,000-litre-per-day dairy plant in Dhemaji district.
