REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd under the Ministry of Power, has officially handed over the special purpose vehicle (SPV) — Davanagere Power Transmission Ltd — to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) on 24 September 2025.
The SPV was created for the development of an inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. Power Grid Corporation was selected as the transmission service provider (TSP) and will implement the project on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.

Scope: Augmentation of transformation capacity at the Davanagere Pooling Station
Installation of:
1×1500 MVA 765/400 kV ICT, 4×500 MVA 400/220 kV ICTs, Associated 220 kV line bays
The handover ceremony was attended by senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and the Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL), marking a key milestone in advancing India’s power transmission infrastructure.
