RECPDCL's Triple Transmission Triumph: SPVs Handed to PGCIL

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC under the Ministry of Power, transferred three project-specific special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for ISTS transmission projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) on March 24, 2025.

The SPVs—Banaskantha Transco, Kurnool-IV Transmission, and Rajasthan V Power Transmission—were awarded to PGCIL through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. As the designated transmission service provider (TSP), PGCIL will develop these projects on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis.

Banaskantha Transco: Augmentation of transformation capacity at the Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Pooling Station (GIS) with 2×500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs and associated works, with an estimated cost of ₹143.35 crore.

Kurnool-IV Transmission: Development of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The project also includes 765 kV transmission lines spanning 375 km from Kurnool-IV to Bidar and 127 km from Kurnool-IV to Kurnool-III, with a total estimated cost of ₹4,727.05 crore.

Rajasthan V Power Transmission: Facilitating power evacuation from the Sirohi substation (2 GW) and the common evacuation of power from Sirohi PS (2 GW) and Merta-II PS (2 GW), at an estimated cost of ₹4,736.23 crore.

All three projects have an implementation period of 24 months.
