Reliance, L&T, Waaree Among Winners in Major Green Hydrogen Project Awards

Reliance Green Hydrogen, L&T Energy, and Waaree Clean Energy are among nine companies awarded green hydrogen production projects under the second tranche of India’s Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme. These projects are expected to attract investments of approximately ₹80,000 crore.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued letters of award to the selected firms, which also include Oriana Power, Matrix Gas and Renewables, GH2 Solar, Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms, and Suryadeep KA1 Project. The awarded companies will establish green hydrogen production facilities with varying annual capacities.

L&T Energy, Waaree Clean Energy, AM Green Ammonia, and Green Infra Renewable Energy Farms secured the highest allocations of 90,000 tonnes per year, while Reliance Green Hydrogen received approval for a 49,000-tonne annual capacity.

SECI has allocated financial incentives of ₹513 crore to AM Green Ammonia, ₹510.3 crore to Waaree, and ₹437.4 crore to Green Infra. The government has earmarked a total of ₹2,238.59 crore in incentives for this tranche, with a maximum allocation of 90,000 tonnes per year per bidder. Given an estimated investment requirement of ₹18,000-20,000 crore per 1,00,000 tonnes of capacity, the total investment in these projects is projected to be around ₹80,000 crore.

Launched in 2023 with a total outlay of ₹19,744 crore, the National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to position India as a global leader in green hydrogen production.
