In a significant boost to Tamil Nadu’s textile industry, the Union Ministry of Textiles has approved a ₹1,894 crore development plan for the PM Mitra Park in Virudhunagar. Spanning 1,052 acres, the integrated Mega Textile Park is designed to attract investments in technical textiles, particularly in the medical and automotive sectors, through processing and integrated manufacturing units.
Key infrastructure components include a 15 MLD common effluent treatment plant with zero liquid discharge and a 5 MLD sewage treatment plant, ensuring environmentally sustainable operations. The park will also feature 13 lakh sq. ft. of plug-and-play built-to-suit infrastructure, providing safe accommodation for 10,000 workers.
Construction is targeted for completion by September 2026. The project is expected to attract ₹10,000 crore in investments and generate employment for approximately one lakh people.
This development further solidifies Tamil Nadu’s leadership in textile manufacturing and aligns with the Central Government’s vision to strengthen infrastructure and employment generation in the sector.
