₹198 Cr Push: KGMU's Healthcare Revolution

King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, is set to significantly upgrade its healthcare infrastructure with the construction of modern multi-storey facilities for its Dental Faculty and the Apex Women Health Centre at Queen Mary Hospital. The project aims to strengthen services in critical care, general medicine, paediatrics, and women’s health.

Estimated at ₹198 crore, the project blueprint has been prepared by the Public Works Department (PWD) and will be executed under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) model. Completion is expected within two years.

According to the proposal, a five-storey building will be constructed for the Dental Faculty and five allied departments, while a nine-storey facility will be developed to house the Apex Women Health Centre. The women’s health facility will feature advanced units including a NICU, critical care, medicine, and paediatric wards.

The new dental block will be located behind the existing Dental Faculty building on the KGMU campus. Additional planned infrastructure includes a 200-seat multipurpose hall, dedicated parking spaces, a security room, a 2,000 sq. ft. administrative block, and other essential amenities—designed to create a modern, integrated healthcare environment.
