₹273 Crore Boost to Connectivity: Reay Road ROB Opens to Traffic.

On May 13, 2025, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the newly constructed Reay Road Road Over Bridge (ROB), a key infrastructure project designed to ease east-west traffic congestion in South Mumbai. Built at a cost of ₹273 crore, the bridge is Mumbai’s first land-based cable-stayed structure.

The inauguration was part of a dual launch event, which also included the opening of another project in Titwala. Spanning 385 meters, the Reay Road ROB connects Mahul Road near the Eastern Freeway to Barrister Nath Pai Marg in Byculla. By passing over the busy Harbour railway line, it significantly enhances connectivity between Byculla East and Mazgaon.

Constructed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), the bridge was completed in just over two years, with work commencing in February 2022. The six-lane structure features two approach ramps and a modern cable-stayed design with six pairs of supporting cables—drawing aesthetic inspiration from the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link and merging engineering elegance with practical utility.
