RVNL, HFCL, and Aerial Telecom Unite for BharatNet's Mega Upgrade

Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL), in collaboration with HFCL and Aerial Telecom Solutions, has entered into a Project Implementation Agency (PIA) agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) to develop, upgrade, operate, and maintain the middle-mile network under the BharatNet project.

The project spans a construction phase of three years, followed by a ten-year maintenance period. Maintenance fees are set at 5.5 percent of capital expenditure annually for the initial five years, increasing to 6.5 percent for the subsequent five years. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance high-speed internet connectivity in rural and remote areas, in line with the Digital India mission.

This endeavor, a key part of the government's strategy to improve broadband access, is valued at approximately Rs 13,253 crore.
