RVUNL Achieves Landmark Thermal Generation Record of 7,171 MW

Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) has recorded its highest-ever thermal power generation, achieving an output of 7,171 MW from its coal-based power plants on 2 June 2026.

The achievement surpasses the utility’s previous peak generation record of 6,833 MW, which was registered on 31 January 2025. The latest milestone was attained through the operation of 23 thermal generating units with a combined installed capacity of 7,580 MW, resulting in a plant utilisation factor (PUF) of 94.6 percent—the highest ever recorded by the state-owned power generation company.

In comparison, the earlier record was achieved using 22 generating units with a total installed capacity of 7,330 MW and a plant utilisation factor of 93.22 percent. RVUNL attributed the improved performance to ongoing efforts focused on reducing technical constraints, undertaking planned maintenance activities, modernising equipment and enhancing operational practices across its thermal power stations.

The record generation reflects improved efficiency, reliability and operational readiness of the utility’s coal-based generation assets, enabling it to meet rising electricity demand across the state. Rajasthan’s Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar described the achievement as a landmark performance for RVUNL, while Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shringi credited the accomplishment to effective operational coordination and the sustained efforts of engineers and plant personnel across the corporation’s thermal power facilities.

The milestone underscores RVUNL’s commitment to strengthening power generation capacity and ensuring a reliable electricity supply to support Rajasthan’s growing energy requirements.
