SAEL Shines: 300 MW Solar Project Powers Up Rajasthan

SAEL Industries has successfully commissioned its first solar power project in Rajasthan, with an approximate capacity of 300 MW, ahead of schedule.

Located in the Jalore district and spread across 1,000 acres, the project was developed through its subsidiary Sunfree Energy RJP1. It comprises 298 MW (DC) and 200 MW (AC) capacity. SAEL signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL) on February 20, 2024, at a competitive tariff of ₹2.61 per kWh.

Commissioned on August 17—well before its scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD)—the project is set to enhance Rajasthan’s power supply by enabling early grid transmission and improved electricity availability.

SAEL Industries is a rapidly growing renewable energy player with diversified operations across agri waste-to-energy, utility-scale solar projects, and solar module manufacturing. With over 7.7 GW of solar IPP assets under its portfolio nationwide, this milestone further reinforces SAEL’s role in advancing India’s clean energy transition.
