The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has granted approval for the Andhra Pradesh government to prepare the Terms of Reference (ToR) for developing seven water aerodromes across the state, including one in Visakhapatnam. With this approval, the Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation can begin drafting the ToR, initiating the process toward obtaining full environmental clearance.
The proposed aerodromes are planned at Jalaput Lake, Sileru–Lambasing, Srisailam, Kakinada, Prakasam Barrage, Vijayawada, and Gandikota, with three more proposed at Konaseema, Araku, and Tirupati. The next steps include conducting a public hearing within the coming month and securing mandatory approvals and NoCs from agencies such as the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Visakhapatnam Port Authority.
