Siemens Bags ₹773 Crore Nagpur Metro Deal for Advanced Signalling

Siemens Ltd has announced the receipt of two major contracts totaling approximately ₹773 crore from the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (MAHA-METRO). These contracts pertain to the implementation of advanced signalling and telecommunication systems for Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase 2, along with augmentations to existing systems under Phase 1.

Under the scope of these contracts, Siemens will be responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling technology—a state-of-the-art system that ensures safe, efficient, and high-frequency metro operations. In addition, Siemens will deploy advanced telecommunication systems critical to the metro network’s reliable and integrated functioning.

The execution period for both projects is estimated at 42 months, marking a significant milestone in Siemens’ continued contribution to India’s urban mobility landscape. This win further reinforces the company’s leadership in delivering cutting-edge transit technologies to support the country’s growing metro infrastructure.
