Electric vehicle manufacturer Simple Energy has begun commercial production of India’s first rare earth-free electric motors at its Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu, marking a major milestone in sustainable and self-reliant EV technology.
This breakthrough aligns with the company’s “Built in India, for the World” vision, supporting the development of resilient, geopolitically neutral supply chains. Developed using patented in-house technology, the new motors deliver high performance and torque—without relying on heavy rare earth elements typically imported from China. Instead, Simple Energy uses optimized alternative materials and proprietary algorithms that dynamically manage heat and torque in real time.
CEO Suhas Rajkumar highlighted the importance of deep localization and a strong “Make in India” approach as essential pillars for the future of electric mobility. The initiative not only advances India’s technological independence in EV manufacturing but also contributes to global sustainability efforts—without compromising on efficiency, performance, or strategic autonomy.
