Singareni’s Bold New Era: From Coal to Critical Minerals

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has unveiled a strategic expansion plan for Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), aimed at transforming it into a diversified, globally competitive mining enterprise.

The roadmap includes foraying into critical minerals, expanding operations beyond Telangana, and diversifying beyond coal. Notably, Singareni has recently secured tenders for gold and copper exploration in Karnataka, leveraging its core expertise in mining to enter high-value sectors.

SCCL reported a robust net profit of ₹6,394 crore in the previous fiscal year, allocating ₹4,034 crore towards new and ongoing projects. The company is working with leading consultancies like PwC and KPMG to shape its transformation strategy and ensure best-in-class governance and execution.

Minister Bhatti emphasised that the initiative will position Singareni as a model public sector enterprise, while also advancing Telangana’s ambitions in the mineral sector and safeguarding the company's legacy in India’s evolving energy and resources landscape.
