SINGER India has announced plans to begin local manufacturing of Auto Zig Zag sewing machines under a licensing agreement with SINGER Sourcing (SVP Worldwide).
The initiative supports the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Make in India” missions by strengthening domestic manufacturing and fostering innovation. The company will produce machines under the SINGER and MERRITT brands, focusing on high-quality standards and cost competitiveness, with the added advantage of being eligible for export to global markets. Production will commence at SINGER India’s Jammu facility, alongside plans to establish a new manufacturing plant within the next six to twelve months.
All machines will carry mandatory BIS certification, ensuring compliance with quality and safety norms. This collaboration reinforces SINGER’s long-standing commitment to India, a market that has been integral to its 155-year legacy.
