Hydroelectric power generation firm SJVN has been granted a full quoted capacity of a 100 MW solar power project following an auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL). The project will be executed by SJVN Green Energy (SGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN, with an investment of Rs 550 crore. The power purchase agreement (PPA) is set to be finalized upon the issuance of a letter of award (LoA) from GUVNL. The solar project will be situated in Khavda, Gujarat, within a solar park.
Anticipated to generate approximately 252 million units in its inaugural year, the cumulative energy production over 25 years is projected to reach around 5,866 million units. Furthermore, the commissioning of this solar project is expected to lead to a reduction of 2,87,463 tonnes of carbon emissions.
This project was secured by SJVN through a build, own, and operate (BOO) model, utilizing the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process of GUVNL Phase-XXI. SJVN aims to accomplish its new mission of reaching 12,000 MW by 2026 and its shared vision of 25,000 MW by 2030, ultimately striving for a total installed capacity of 50,000 MW by 2040. As of now, the company's project portfolio stands at 59,872 MW.
