Smartchem Technologies Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL), is proposing to develop a new Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) complex at Gopalpur Industrial Park, Ganjam, Odisha. The project aims to establish a large-scale production facility for TAN, a crucial ingredient in mining explosives and fertilizers. The TAN complex will have an annual production capacity of 377 kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA). The cost of the project is 2,200 Crores.

As on November 2023, The project is now in the stage of construction being started. The completion of the project's work has reached the 30% mark. The work on the project will be finished by December of 2024.
