Star Cement North East Limited planning to set up Cement Unit Project in Assam

Star Cement North East Limited intends to build a new cement factory at Chamata Pathar, Kamrup, Assam. Although the project is still in its early phases, it has gotten environmental approval from the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) for April 2022. The new cement unit project will make Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) and will have a capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). 

The total cost of the project is 630 crores.The project is scheduled to be finished in 2024. Star Cement North East Limited is a subsidiary of Star Cement Limited, one of India's largest cement producers. Star Cement North East Limited will be able to increase its reach and capacity in the North East India region thanks to the new cement facility project in Assam. It will also assist the company in meeting the region's expanding demand for cement.

As of September 2023, The project is now in the stage of construction being started the work on the project will be finished in 2024, 2025 or 2026 It has been decided to hire a local contractor.
