STT GDC India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024, committing to invest up to Rs 1,900 crore towards expanding its data center infrastructure in the state. Over the next five to seven years, the company aims to augment its data center capacity by up to 80 MW critical IT load across various strategic locations within Tamil Nadu.
This collaboration is poised to accelerate the development of cutting-edge data center facilities in the region, capitalizing on Tamil Nadu's standing as a key hub for data centers in India and the wider region. The partnership between STT GDC India and the Tamil Nadu government is anticipated to fuel growth in the data center sector, generate employment opportunities, and bolster the advancement of digital infrastructure on a broader scale.
STT GDC India's existing Chennai data center network comprises three facilities, boasting a combined IT load capacity exceeding 45 MW. Notably, the STT Chennai 2 facility, situated within the Ambattur campus, contributes 25 MW critical IT load capacity. The Ambattur Campus is renowned for its carrier-neutrality, scalable design, and ability to meet the most stringent service level agreement (SLA) requirements.
