Surya International, a subsidiary of Group Surya, has secured an EPC contract for a 200 kW solar-hydrogen-BESS microgrid in Chushul, Ladakh.
Awarded by NTPC REL, a subsidiary of NTPC, the project is a collaboration with NTPC and the Indian Army to ensure uninterrupted green power for remote defense locations. By replacing diesel generators, the microgrid will cut carbon emissions by 1,500 tonnes annually. Designed to operate at an altitude of 4,400 meters and withstand temperatures as low as -30°C, the system ensures reliable energy supply in extreme conditions.
With a project value of ₹102 crore, this advanced solar-hydrogen microgrid will generate 200 kW of continuous power throughout the year.
This marks Surya International’s third hydrogen initiative, following its hydrogen mobility station for NHPC in Himachal Pradesh and the development of an alkaline hydrogen electrolyser with BARC’s support for HPCL in Bengaluru.
