AG&P Pratham, a prominent player in the city gas distribution (CGD) sector, aims to provide around 10,000 piped natural gas (PNG) connections in Tamil Nadu by March 2024. As part of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) National PNG Drive, the company plans to install a total of 53,136 new PNG connections across the five states it operates in within the next two months. The initiative was officially launched with the unveiling of the inaugural PNG connection in Kancheepuram on January 28, conducted by Anil Kumar Jain, Chairperson of PNGRB.
To promote PNG adoption, AG&P Pratham has introduced attractive schemes, including a waiver of registration fees and security deposits, along with one month of free gas for customers starting consumption by March 31, 2024. Abhilesh Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of AG&P Pratham, highlighted these incentives, emphasizing that PNG will be more affordable than liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The company also emphasized its commitment to women empowerment, planning to have more than 50% of the Direct Marketing workforce composed of women. Anil Kumar Jain praised Tamil Nadu for leading in green fuel adoption, noting the state's potential for significant green fuel adoption due to its diverse landscape.
AG&P Pratham, operational in Kancheepuram since 2021, currently operates 31 CNG stations catering to various vehicles. The company has received registrations from 30,813 households, serves seven major industrial customers, and has expressions of interest from nearly 170 industrial and commercial customers for transitioning to piped natural gas. AG&P Pratham's extensive network covers 3,87,938 PNG connections across five states, solidifying its position in the CGD sector.
