TANTRANSCO Submits 70 Cr Underground Power Cable Plan

Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (TANTRANSCO) has submitted a ₹70-crore proposal to the state government for installing a 6-km underground extra high tension (EHT) power cable to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to Thiruvanaikoil.

The underground system will replace 19 existing transmission towers located along the Kollidam riverbed, two of which collapsed last year due to heavy water flow. TANTRANSCO finalized and submitted the revised proposal to the state government last week, aiming to provide a more resilient and reliable power supply to the region.
