Radisson Hotel Group has strengthened its footprint in India’s rapidly expanding religious tourism segment with the launch of new properties in Shirdi, Puri, and Indore, and an upcoming opening planned in Ujjain.
The hotel chain is tapping into India’s ₹1.34 trillion religious tourism market, which recorded more than 1,439 million visits in 2022. Its expansion strategy is focused on emerging spiritual destinations, building on its existing presence in culturally significant cities such as Ayodhya and Prayagraj. Radisson noted that religious tourism remains a major driver of domestic travel and hospitality demand, with sustained growth anticipated in the coming years.
Highlighting the sector’s potential, the company said that steady visitor inflows, improved infrastructure, and better transport connectivity are driving demand for organised, high-quality hospitality offerings in pilgrimage centres. The continued rise of spiritual tourism is also expected to support infrastructure development, enhance connectivity, and generate employment in these regions.
