Tata + ASML: Inside India’s $11 Billion Semiconductor Leap

Tata Electronics has entered into a partnership with ASML to support the development and ramp-up of its upcoming 300 mm (12-inch) semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, in a major push toward advancing India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.

The collaboration combines Tata Electronics’ plans to establish India’s first commercial semiconductor fabrication plant with ASML’s expertise in advanced lithography systems and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. The Dholera facility is expected to produce semiconductor chips for applications in automotive, mobile devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and other high-growth sectors for global customers.

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Randhir Thakur said ASML’s extensive experience in holistic lithography solutions would help ensure the timely scaling of the Dholera fab, strengthen a resilient and trusted supply chain for global customers, drive innovation, and support local talent development.

The semiconductor fabrication facility, planned with a total investment of approximately $11 billion, is expected to play a significant role in enhancing India’s position within the global semiconductor supply chain while boosting domestic manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise.
