Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) and NHPC Renewable Energy (NHPC-REL) have forged a pivotal partnership to advance rooftop solar projects across India. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on July 17, 2024, at the NHPC Office Complex in Faridabad.
This collaboration is set to transform government buildings across Central ministries, states, and Union Territories into beacons of renewable energy. By utilizing rooftop spaces, the initiative will significantly cut the carbon footprint of these buildings, steering India towards a greener future.
Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojna Scheme, the project aims to achieve full solarisation of government-owned buildings by December 2025. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has tasked NHPC with implementing this ambitious scheme through its subsidiary, NHPC-REL.
By combining their expertise, Tata Power and NHPC are setting a new benchmark in the renewable energy sector, showcasing how strategic collaborations can drive significant environmental and economic benefits.
This MoU underscores the commitment of both organizations to harnessing India’s solar potential, ensuring that government buildings lead the way in sustainable energy practices.
