World Green Energy (WGE) has signed a land sublease agreement with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. (TSSEZL) for 50 acres at the Gopalpur Industrial Park in Odisha, marking a significant milestone in India’s solar manufacturing drive.
The facility will house 2 GW of TOPCon solar cell and 1.2 GW of TOPCon solar module manufacturing capacity, leveraging advanced technology to produce high-efficiency solar products for both domestic and international markets. The project aligns with India’s broader vision of achieving carbon neutrality by 2047 and significantly strengthens the country's solar manufacturing ecosystem.
In addition to advancing clean energy goals, the initiative is expected to create local employment, promote skill development, and catalyze economic activity in the region.
Tata Steel SEZ welcomed the partnership, emphasizing the strategic location and infrastructure of Gopalpur Industrial Park as a foundation for building a sustainable industrial hub. The development further underscores Odisha’s emerging role in India’s clean energy transition and solar supply chain leadership.
