Telangana Fast-Tracks Tummidihatti Barrage with Revised Plan

The Telangana government is accelerating progress on the Tummidihatti barrage, a key component of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Pranahita Chevella Sujala Sravanthi (BRAPCSS) project.

During a high-level review meeting, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy directed officials to prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Tummidihatti barrage to align with current technical and financial requirements. He also announced that work on the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel would resume soon, pending Cabinet approval.

The meeting also addressed critical issues such as land acquisition challenges in Khammam district, the status of the Chinna Kaleshwaram project, and the revision of cost estimates for the Kalwakurthy and Devadula Package-6 projects. These proposals are being fast-tracked for Cabinet consideration.

The Minister emphasized the importance of resolving inter-state coordination issues and securing pending clearances to ensure timely execution of major irrigation projects, which are vital for enhancing water security and agricultural development in the state.
