The Telangana government is advancing the rehabilitation and revival of the three barrages under the Kaleshwaram project—Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla—with support from IIT Delhi and international experts.
Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy informed the Assembly that the restoration work is being undertaken with a focus on ensuring structural integrity and operational efficiency. Regarding the Pranahita-Chevella project, the government will proceed with the originally planned barrage at Tummidihatti, while revising the water transmission route. R.V. Engineering Consultancy has been engaged to evaluate an alternative alignment connecting Tummidihatti to the Sundilla barrage to overcome technical challenges.
For the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, the feasibility of the Laxmidevipally reservoir will be assessed to supply water to regions including Shadnagar and Parigi, with land acquisition to follow based on the study findings.
The government aims to complete these initiatives within three years, strengthening irrigation, water management, and supply infrastructure across the state through careful planning and expert oversight.
