The Expressway Edge: Transforming Hathras into a Modern Hub

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has unveiled plans for a new urban development project, “New Hathras City,” spanning up to 4,000 hectares.

Located along both sides of the Yamuna Expressway, the project aims to transform the largely agrarian district of Hathras into a modern industrial and residential hub, on the lines of Gurugram and Noida in the NCR. Land across 358 villages in Sadar, Sadabad, and Sasni tehsils is proposed to be acquired for the development.

The project will be implemented in phases over the next 5–10 years, with a detailed master plan being prepared under YEIDA’s broader Master Plan 2041. The development is expected to feature industrial zones, MSME clusters, logistics hubs, and manufacturing units, positioning Hathras as a key centre for sectors such as dairy, textiles, and brass.

In addition, the city will include modern urban amenities such as educational institutions, IT parks, and green spaces, supporting balanced and sustainable development.

The project’s strategic location along the Yamuna Expressway will provide strong connectivity to the NCR and nearby cities through road and rail networks, as well as proposed high-speed rail corridors.
