Kaynes Semiconductor expects its Sanand chip facility’s mass production unit to be ready by the third quarter of the current financial year, with the entire plant projected to become fully operational by the end of 2028, a senior company executive said.
Speaking at the IESA Vision Summit 2026, Vice President (Sales) Rajeev Sethi stated that the Sanand facility has been structured into three units, one of which is already operational. Unit 2 — the primary mass manufacturing block — is targeted for completion by the September quarter. Unit 3 is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2027 or 2028.
The company had earlier aimed to commence mass production at its Sanand-based outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) unit by January 2026. Currently, its pilot line, with a capacity of three lakh chips per month, is operational. Once Unit 2 becomes functional, the plant’s monthly production capacity is expected to scale up to 9.2 crore chips.
The total investment in the Sanand semiconductor facility stands at ₹3,307 crore.
