The redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station, a key transport hub in Kerala’s capital, is progressing steadily with an estimated investment of ₹495 crore.
The project is being executed in two major segments—the north block on the Thampanoor side and the south block on the Power House Road side. Piling work has been completed for both blocks, and foundation work is currently in progress. Passenger access has been temporarily limited to the Thampanoor side as major construction activities continue on the Power House Road side, including a multi-level car parking facility and a new south block housing offices and passenger amenities. Portions of the platform near the escalator have also been covered to facilitate ongoing works.
Once completed, the redeveloped station will feature modern infrastructure and enhanced passenger facilities, bringing it in line with international standards. The project is being overseen by Southern Railway, with Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) and the Kerala Rail Development Corporation executing the works.
