The Uma Exports Pulse Revolution Begins in Navi Mumbai

Uma Exports has officially commenced operations at its newly leased pulse manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai, following the successful completion of trial runs. The plant adds an annual production capacity of 36,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), marking a significant milestone in the company's strategic shift from a pure trading model to value-added manufacturing.

This expansion is fully funded through internal accruals, with no reliance on external investment. Traditionally known for its strong presence in B2B trading of agricultural commodities—such as sugar, spices, food grains, tea, pulses, and agro-feed ingredients—Uma Exports is now broadening its scope to include processing capabilities. The move is designed to enhance supply chain efficiency and offer higher-margin, value-added agri-products to meet growing domestic demand.

This Navi Mumbai facility represents Uma Exports’ first foray into processing and is expected to contribute to revenues by the fourth quarter of FY26. It is part of a larger, phased capacity expansion plan that includes two additional plants: a 50,000 TPA facility in Surat, Gujarat, and a 55,000 TPA plant in Jalan Industrial Complex, Howrah, West Bengal. Both are strategically located and scheduled to become operational over the next two financial years, targeting both domestic and key export markets such as East Africa, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Through this expansion strategy, Uma Exports aims to optimize logistics, improve profit margins, and strengthen its footprint in both domestic and international markets, reinforcing its transformation into a value-added agri-products company.
