Tirunelveli Taps into a Brighter Future with Tamirabharani Scheme

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu and Tirunelveli District Collector R. Sukumar have inaugurated the drinking water connection works for 12,099 households in Thisaiyanvilai town panchayat, as part of the Tamirabharani Combined Drinking Water Scheme.

The ₹423.13 crore project is set to benefit Kalakkad municipality and seven town panchayats — Ervadi, Thirukkurungudi, Nanguneri, Panagudi, Moolaikaraipatti, Thisaiyanvilai, and Valliyoor — spread across the Nanguneri and Radhapuram constituencies.

Speaker Appavu stated that 70% of the project work has already been completed and expressed confidence that households will begin receiving water by October this year. Once operational, each resident is expected to receive 135 litres of drinking water per day.

Following the completion of works in Thisaiyanvilai, connection activities will begin in the remaining towns. Additionally, road repairs for areas affected during pipeline laying will be carried out after the water supply system is commissioned.
