The Tamil Nadu government plans to build a new Rs 1,200-crore Assembly-secretariat complex at Foreshore Estate in Chennai. Selected over sites in Guindy and Nandambakkam for its contiguous ~25-acre land availability, the project will feature a 15-storey main building spanning ~20 lakh sq ft. Land clearances have been secured from the TNHB (21.37 acres of former residential quarters land) and the GCC (0.93 acre), with the total site area expected to expand to ~26.5 acres including Revenue Department land.
