TN x Sarvam AI: The ₹10,000 Cr Sovereignty Play

The Tamil Nadu government has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sarvam AI to set up India’s first full-stack Sovereign AI Park, with an initial investment of ₹10,000 crore.

The project is expected to create around 1,000 high-skilled deep-tech jobs and will bring together critical components such as advanced AI infrastructure, secure data frameworks, model research laboratories, and an Institute for AI in Governance. Designed as a sovereign, ethical, and inclusive ecosystem, the AI Park will ensure that data, models, and computational resources remain within the state’s trust boundary.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa stated that the initiative will position the state at the forefront of large-scale AI deployment across key sectors including education, agriculture, healthcare, and citizen services. Arun Roy, Secretary of the Industries Department, noted that the project would strengthen Tamil Nadu’s standing as a global destination for AI investments.

IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti said the initiative would enable local talent to lead AI innovation on the global stage, while Sarvam AI co-founder Pratyush Kumar highlighted the Park’s role in moving AI from experimentation to large-scale, real-world applications.
