Torrent Power, JERA Sign 10-Year LNG Mega-Deal

Torrent Power has entered into a long-term Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Japan’s JERA Co. for the supply of up to 0.27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG over a 10-year period, beginning in 2027.

The LNG will support operations of Torrent Power’s 2,730 MW combined-cycle gas-based power plants (GBPPs), helping meet rising electricity demand, manage peak load requirements, and balance renewable energy generation. A portion of the supply will also be allocated to Torrent Gas (TGL), the company’s city gas distribution arm, to meet growing demand from household, commercial, industrial, and CNG vehicle segments.

Torrent Power noted that it will continue to explore additional LNG procurement opportunities to support its expanding energy portfolio and ensure reliable supply.
