REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC under the Ministry of Power, officially transferred two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for inter-state transmission system (ISTS) projects – Bidar Transco and Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission – to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) on February 18, 2025, in Gurugram.
PGCIL secured the role of transmission service provider (TSP) for these projects through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process managed by RECPDCL. These projects will be executed under the build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model, with a 24-month implementation period.
The primary objective of the projects is to upgrade the transformation capacity at the Bidar Pooling Station in Karnataka and the KPS1 & KPS2 substations in Gujarat, thus enabling efficient power evacuation from renewable energy (RE) generators.
