Trichy Corporation Unveils ₹367 Crore Link Road Project

The Trichy Corporation has unveiled plans to develop a 10 km link road connecting the upcoming Integrated Bus Terminus (IBT) in Panjapur with key residential areas across the city. The project, set to be executed in three phases, has received ₹68 crore in administrative approval for the first phase.

The road will be 9 meters wide, with elevated sections spanning 5 km across five critical locations, including Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Karumandapam, and Vayalur Road. These elevated stretches aim to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion in densely populated areas.

Additionally, a 400-meter approach road will be built at major intersections. The project also includes an elevated segment near the Kudamurutti bridge on the Trichy-Karur NH, which may integrate with the proposed Kalaignar Arivalayam flyover.

Land acquisition for about 9 acres is required, with the Trichy Corporation planning to negotiate with landowners to facilitate the process. The total project cost is estimated at ₹367 crore, with tenders to be issued after receiving technical approval.

This new link road aims to reduce congestion in crowded areas like Karumandapam and enhance flood protection along the Koraiyar and Kudamurutti rivers.
