UP Gets a Shot in the Arm: TQN Retails Announces ₹224 Crore Ethanol Project

TQN Retails Private Limited is set to launch a significant grain-based ethanol production project located in Malika and Karnapu, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The project, which represents an investment of ₹224 crores, is designed to produce 160 kiloliters of ethanol per day, addressing the increasing demand for biofuels in India. This initiative aligns with the national goal of enhancing ethanol blending in fuels, which is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and boosting agricultural economies.

The facility will not only focus on ethanol production but also feature a bagasse-based power unit with a capacity of 5 MW. This power unit will utilize the by-products from the ethanol production process, mainly bagasse from the processed grains, to generate electricity. This integrated approach maximizes resource efficiency and contributes to the sustainability of the project, by significantly reducing waste and lowering dependency on fossil fuels.

Strategically situated in the agricultural heartland of Uttar Pradesh, the project leverages the local availability of grain, thereby reducing transportation costs and supporting the local farming community. Farmers in the region will benefit from an alternative market for their grains, potentially leading to stabilized grain prices and improved livelihoods. This symbiotic relationship underscores TQN Retails' commitment to community development and environmental stewardship.

The ethanol project is expected to have a substantial economic impact on the local economy by creating numerous direct and indirect jobs. From operations and logistics to supply chain management, the project will offer various employment opportunities for the local populace. Additionally, the development of this facility will likely spur further industrial growth in the region, attracting ancillary industries and services.
