Vedanta Group’s subsidiary, Meenakshi Energy Ltd. (MEL), has fully operationalised its 1,000 MW thermal power plant in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, achieving the milestone within two years of acquisition.
The facility comprises two 350 MW units and two 150 MW units. The 150 MW units were stabilised earlier this year, followed by the successful commissioning of the 350 MW units in August 2025. The plant is set to deliver reliable power to nearby industrial clusters while contributing stable baseload capacity to the national grid.
This development marks a key milestone in Vedanta’s strategy to enhance India’s energy security and support industrial expansion.
Commenting on the achievement, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO – Power, Vedanta, said, “This comeback reinforces our commitment to meeting India's growing energy needs and marks a defining chapter in our journey to become the country’s most efficient and sustainability-driven power producer.”
