Venky Power and Metals Private Limited is investing Rs 232 crores in an ethanol plant in Pratappur, Chhapra, Jharkhand. Local maize and rice will supply the 120,000-tonne-per-year green-field ethanol manufacturing plant. This strategic project coordinates with India's ethanol blending program to minimize fossil fuel use and boost farmers' income by increasing demand for their crops.
The initiative affects more than fuel sustainability. It targets 300 direct and indirect jobs to boost regional economic development. Ethanol consumption is expanding due to government programs encouraging ethanol blending with gasoline, offering market possibilities for this business.
Ethanol production technologies and waste management are crucial to project sustainability. A complete evaluation of the project's economic and environmental effect on Jharkhand will need measuring ethanol output and feedstock availability.
As on December 2023, Project is at construction started stage. 60% project work has been completed. Project work will be complete by July, 2024.
