Sunkind India is expanding into solar module manufacturing with a planned investment of Rs 1,200–1,500 crore through a large-scale solar cell procurement agreement aimed at strengthening its renewable energy operations and supply chain capabilities.
The company has set up a one GW solar module manufacturing facility near Jaipur and is expected to commence commercial production next month after completing trial runs. Sunkind currently operates in the solar EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and independent power producer (IPP) segments, primarily catering to commercial and industrial clients. The addition of in-house module manufacturing is expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce supply chain dependencies, and support faster project execution.
According to Managing Director Hanish Gupta, the company has signed an agreement with a domestic manufacturer for the procurement of one GW of DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) solar cells to support the new manufacturing vertical. The procurement deal is estimated to be valued between Rs 1,200 crore and Rs 1,500 crore.
The expansion highlights Sunkind India’s broader growth strategy and aligns with the increasing momentum in India’s renewable energy and domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.
