Bengaluru Airport's Green Leap: A City Gas Network Takes Flight

Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) has entered into an agreement with GAIL Gas Limited to establish a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

The project will feature a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) infrastructure to support cleaner fuel adoption by airport taxis, buses, and logistics fleets. It also includes provisions for non-fuel retail and convenience services, enhancing overall public utility.

This initiative aims to foster a sustainable energy ecosystem within the Airport City, reinforcing its positioning as a green, smart, and future-ready business hub. BACL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), already holds the prestigious IGBC Green Cities Platinum Rating—India’s highest certification for green urban developments.

Commenting on the partnership, BACL CEO Rao Munukutla stated that the collaboration with GAIL Gas represents a pivotal step in India’s clean energy transition and aligns closely with international sustainability benchmarks.
