Adani's Aviation Ascent: ₹17,000 Crore Bet on Airports

Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) plans to allocate over 42% of its ₹40,000 crore capital expenditure for FY27 to its airports business, underscoring a strong push into aviation infrastructure. A key project includes a new terminal at Ahmedabad Airport ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2030.

According to CFO Jugeshinder Singh, around ₹17,000 crore has been earmarked for airports, making it the largest investment segment within the company’s capex plan. He noted that AEL achieved close to 95% of its targeted capital expenditure this year and expects a similar outlay of about ₹40,000 crore in the next financial year.

The company is also fast-tracking expansion at Navi Mumbai International Airport, with Phase II construction set to begin as passenger demand continues to grow. Traffic projections for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region indicate that the airport could reach capacity within 12–18 months, prompting accelerated development.

Beyond airside capacity expansion, AEL is directing substantial investments toward city-side infrastructure at airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Jaipur. These developments are aimed at enhancing passenger experience while boosting non-aeronautical revenue streams.
