Adilabad Takes Flight: A New Era for Telangana’s Skies

The Telangana state government, in coordination with the Ministry of Defence and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is progressing with plans for the proposed Adilabad airport project.

As part of the next phase, officials will commence detailed land mapping, which will serve as the foundation for preparing the detailed project report (DPR) and initiating land acquisition. The mapping exercise will evaluate key parameters such as residential and agricultural land use, the presence of high-tension power lines, and overall land availability. The proposed airport is envisaged as a multi-operational facility catering to cargo services, Indian Air Force (IAF) training requirements, and civil aviation operations.

BJP MP Godam Nagesh highlighted that land acquisition would require time due to the need for farmer cooperation and the finalisation of compensation rates, but expressed confidence in the project’s progress with support from Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. The Airports Authority of India will take the final call on critical infrastructure components, including terminal buildings and runway specifications.
