Bhadradri Airport Stalled, But Warangal Gets ₹497 Cr Green Light

The proposed greenfield airport at Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telangana has encountered a major delay after an Airports Authority of India (AAI) study deemed the initial site unfeasible due to hilly terrain and a nearby railway line. Responding to BRS MP Ravi Chandra Vaddiraju in the Rajya Sabha on July 20, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol stated that the Centre has not yet received a formal site-clearance proposal for the state's newly proposed 667-acre alternative location.

In contrast, the Centre has approved the Warangal Airport project, valued at ₹496.8 crore, with tenders already invited for runway and taxiway construction. Meanwhile, pre-feasibility and technical studies for additional airport sites in Adilabad and Peddapalli remain under evaluation.
