Green Light for Dagadarthi: 1,300 Acres Secured for New Airport

Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh is set to get its long-awaited airport following the State Cabinet’s approval for land acquisition for the Dagadarthi airport project.

A total of 882 acres of land has already been acquired, and the government has approved compensation at Rs 13 lakh per acre for the acquisition of an additional 418 acres. The airport will be developed under the public–private partnership (PPP) model, with tenders for selecting the executing agency expected to be finalised within the next two to three months.

The project is expected to act as a catalyst for industrial growth, boost regional economic activity, and generate employment opportunities, while also meeting the growing demand for air travel in the region.

SPSR Nellore District Collector Shukla thanked state ministers and local officials for their support, noting that once operational, the Dagadarthi airport will play a significant role in driving the district’s economic development.
