Coimbatore International Airport’s ambitious multi-crore expansion project has cleared NITI Aayog and is pending final approval from the Cabinet Committee on Expenditure.
According to Airport Director Mohammad Arif, the master plan requires acquiring 627 additional acres alongside the existing 420 acres, expanding the total footprint to 1,047+ acres (with 621 acres already handed over to the AAI). The centerpiece of the project is a new terminal building designed to dramatically scale up annual passenger capacity from 35 lakh to 1.20 crore.
Meanwhile, the airport is advancing its environmental clearances and preparing a 24-day "Yatri Seva Abhiyan" campaign to elevate immediate passenger amenities and services.
