Blue Energy Motors: ₹3,500 Cr. Bet on India's Green Truck Future

Blue Energy Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to set up a new truck manufacturing facility in Pune, with a proposed investment of ₹3,500 crore.

The upcoming plant will have the capacity to produce 30,000 electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks over the next five years, significantly expanding the company's production capabilities. As part of its sustainability push, Blue Energy also launched its first heavy-duty electric truck equipped with swappable battery technology, alongside the inauguration of India’s first electric highway corridor between Mumbai and Pune. The initiative is part of the company’s vision to electrify all major national highway corridors within three years.

Backed by Essar and FPT (Iveco Group), Blue Energy currently operates a facility in Chakan with an annual capacity of 10,000 units. With over 1,000 LNG trucks already on the road and a claimed 60% market share in the green truck segment, this expansion marks a significant step in accelerating India’s transition towards clean, self-reliant industrial transportation.
