West Bengal is set to strengthen its petrochemical manufacturing base with the upcoming ₹6,000 crore phenol and acetone plant at Haldia, developed by Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL) through its subsidiary Adplus Polymers & Chemicals. The facility is scheduled for inauguration on October 14, 2026.
The project is expected to expand domestic production of key industrial chemicals, boost downstream manufacturing and reinforce Haldia’s position as a major petrochemical hub. HPL Chairperson Purnendu Chatterjee reviewed the project’s final construction phase during a site visit in February, along with senior project officials.
With commissioning and inauguration nearing, the facility marks a significant industrial investment for West Bengal and adds capacity to India’s growing petrochemical ecosystem.
